Do I look innocent now?

This episode taught me not to jump on early conclusions…At the beginning of the episode the ones that have survived find Eva dead in her room along with her husband who’s in the bathtub 1. In the room’s door there is the first magic circle of Moon that opens every locked door, according to Maria. The thing that made me laugh was that when George hugged his dead mother’s body he dove right into her breasts 2. In the room, they find another letter from Beatrice. however, they don’t read it, yet. When they exit and lock the room they smell something weird from the boiler room and Kannon goes to check it out along with the granny. Jessica begins suspecting Maria and tells George about it. Kannon enters the boiler room, whose lights aren’t working, with quite an optimistic attitude but gets killed by Beatrice in butterfly form (Beatrice is said not to have real form. The woman at the portrait was the last human she possessed). Of course Jessica would cry like hell since she had a crush on Kannon. In the boiler room they also discover Kinzou’s dead, burned body (Guess what? We’ll eat fried Kinzou for dinner) and that the Ring of the Head is missing. They finally decide to stay at Kinzou’s Study which is protected by the fifth magic circle of Mars that blocks magic. The magic circle is on the door’s handle.

Jessica’s mother shows her charm and Maria tells her that it was because of that, that she didn’t get killed by Beatrice. After that they open the letter and find a note that reads: “Glorify my name“. Genji 3 reveals then that Beatrice was Kinzou’s lover and that she had died long ago. In order to revive her Kinzou turned to black magic (creepy). Battler then discovers that the murders were proceeding as the epitaph of  Beatrice wrote (I though that was the only obvious thing -.- You are such a loser Battler). Maria then shows the rest of the group a new letter that suddenly appeared in front of the table where the servants and the doctor were. Natsuhi (Jessica’s mother) then threatens them and forces them out of the room. Genji leaves the keys on the table before he leaves . Before Maria leaves the room Battler gives her back the scorpion charm which he was supposed to have lost. He said that he told Maria so only to contradict her. Maria then smiles demonically. The rest of the group discovers another paper on the envelope on which is drawn the third magic circle of Mars the effect of which is Discord. Battler realizes , there fore, that the letter was a trap to split the group up. At that moment, the phone rings (although the lines were supposed to be down). Natsuhi answers the phone and hears Maria singing. They all rush to the room where Maria and the rest is to find the servants and the doctor dead and Maria singing against the wall.

I have, however two points that annoy me:

  • Why did Genji leave the keys when he left the room? Was he so sure he was gonna die?
    • Maria has an alibi now because of the scorpion charm Battler gave her. If he hadn’t given it to her they would all suspect Maria for sure!

Genji left the keys so that they can’t return to Kinzo’s room, otherwise it would take away the point of kicking them out.

He left the master key because the master key is a sign of trust. He lost Natsuhi’s trust so he feels he’s no longer permitted to carry it.
