Me-Teru no Kimochi – NHK-like Manga

I look cute but come close and I’ll axe you!

I was reading this manga, Me-Teru no Kimochi, and I was really captivated at how this goes. This Manga was also created by the author of Gantz, so that made me want to read it a bit more. Sadly, there are only 28 chapters. The beginning chapters was pretty interesting as the main character, Koizumi Shintarou, was a Hikkikomori. It reminded me of the oh-so-great “Welcome to the NHK” because it revolves around a girl, Haruka, who’s trying to get Shintarou to get out of his room and into the streets. It was really interesting but in the end… I just felt sad and had the urge to cry for Shintarou. He had such a horrible life, yet such a palatial experience… just to have it shot down in the end and come to a mind of understanding.

As the image can imply, this Manga looks nice but well, get too deep into it and it’ll axe you. I’m just saying that the ending wasn’t satisfying. It spent a lot of time building up the relationship between Shintarou and Haruka, but ended in a way which makes you think “and what’s next?” I myself really despise endings like these. It was like when I read “Joy Luk Club”. I was really into the book, but when I finished it I felt some sort of emptiness because the story didn’t really end… or to be exact, it ended with the idea that many things could happen. Many Anime/Manga I read now seems to have this kind of ending: Mx0, Elfen Lied, Code Geass 1 & 2, Claymore, Kaze no Stigma, etc… I just like things when there’s no abstract/ambiguous/jargon ending. It keeps my mind at rest and doesn’t make me go “WTF WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?! I DEMAND TO KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!!” and such. Hopefully Gantz doesn’t end the same way Me-Teru no Kimochi ended – with an ambiguous ending.

I read it a little earlier right now, I thought that it was a pretty good ending. Sure it was a little ambiguous with the end, but I felt happy for how the main character got his life turned around.

Same here. Just that I wish the ending could be completed with a hug or something. *shrugs*

    *****spoiler a bit******

The ending was ugly… why does he have to marry a cow like that woman as opposed to the buxom haruka? And that’s a little deep. Step mother or not, why did she make love to him and then leave the next day?
… Did shintaro sell his house or not?
Poor dad… his prodigal son spends 15 years of his life moping in isolation, and then grows up to be a noodle shop owner… well at least he didni’t kill himself/die so all in all i guess it was a ‘happy ending’.
I wish shintaro didn’t shave his head bald, he was kind of lookin’ cool n’ all and then he cuts it all off… like come on!!??/ do they have any pity for the idiot?
