InuYasha TFA – 08 – Kikyo finally died :(
Episode Rating: 10.0/10.0
I don’t know what to say. This was kinda sudden to me. It’s a strange mix of emotion – happy yet sad. I guess the better word for this is melancholy. I almost felt like crying seeing Kikyo die. I’ve never really liked saying goodbyes anyways. Truth be told, if I were to hear people who sound like they’re about to cry, I’ll feel like crying. When I visually am able to see someone cry, I want to cry as well. That’s just how I was conditioned, I guess. I even foolishly thought, “ohhh shit, they’re going to finally kill Naraku!” but well, that just didn’t happen. Because this has brought such emotions out from within me, I give this episode a rating of 10.
I kinda wished Kikyo had more screentime. Fact is, she’s more hot than Kagome. I should really read the Manga to see what really happens, but meh… why ruin the surprise? I don’t even know what chapter this episode “ends” at. But this really made me think: How old is Inuyasha? How old is Kikyo? I mean, seriously. And what does Inuyasha really reborn into? If Kikyo reborn into Kagome, who does he reborn to? It’s missing that connection to me.
Another thing: I guess the soul catchers or whatever you call them lived up in the sky until Kagome was born. That’s pretty cool, I guess. But that brings up a controversy to me: Wouldn’t Kikyo have the memories of everything up until “now”? Or was it just “thrown away” when she was “clay-born”? Well regardless, Kikyo doesn’t have to stand for the shit in this world anymore.
Long live Kikyo! Long live the priest! Long live the ordinary girl!

I hated Kikyo through the first series and even through the entire manga. But for some reason, I was actually starting to like he, and thennnnnn.
*croak*
Oh well, it had to happen…..right now, the’re taking the manga and exploding through it. Personally, I think that they’re moving too fast, they should have given this 52 episodes for the season instead of 26….but hey, 26 is better than no season, so whatever.
Inuyasha never died, thus he was not reborn. Plus, he’s hanyou and who knows how long he’d stay alive naturally. As to Kikyou, she was human and did die, thus Kagome.
@AstroNerdBoy: I see… so where’s Inuyasha in the real world? Is he just hiding for the suspense or something?
Having read the manga, I knew Kikyo was going to die. But hearing this episode performed by the talented Inuyasha seiyuu was a lot more impacting and touching than I remember it three years ago in the manga.
The last few episodes haven’t been quite as rushed, but I agree that Sunrise is rushing through the new series too quickly. But with only 26 episodes to worth with, I guess they have no choice. I agree with Glo, it really should have been 52.
DAMN IT!!!!!! ,kikyou should not have died ,she is the only babe that kept me want to see more of inuyasha series
Kikyou is so tragic, Beautiful, smart, brave, independent, interesting, unique, terrific. Interesting, deep, collective, graceful, she’s not annoying, not whore, strong, a good doctor, and a great ass-kicker, what can’t she do? But sadly, her supposed betrayal and the whole undead-existence situation has left her very morose (who can blame her?). Her life is so tragic, but she still takes care of the young, sick, and elderly and never complains, which is why I admire her so much. In my eyes she deserves a lot of respect, considering how much crap she goes through and how well she holds up. Curse Rumiko Takahashi for killing her so many times and throwing her off so many cliffs! KAHOME/FUGOME SHOULD DIE AND NOT POOR KIKYOU SHE’S THE REAL MIKO AND KAGOME IS FAKE.
Agreed. Fuck FUGOME.
