White Album First Impression

←[103] In a nutshell: interesting characters, terribly utilized music, and a confusing exposition.
As Impz put it before, this is a character-driven show. And as such, I was thoroughly confused by the exposition - a whole lot of stuff happens but not in an order that makes a lot of sense at first glance. That indicates that either (1) it’s deeper and I’m stupid or (2) they’re not doing a good job of making the story flow and are bad at producing the most crucial [promotional] episode. Seems like they’re trying ...

Toradora - 13

I felt that if I were to summarize this episode with a whole blotch of text, it wouldn't really point out the important things which happened. Trust me, besides what I described above there was only repetitious talking and cheering for Taiga. Plus a masochistic Ami. Though, Ami wasn't trying to be mean to Taiga or anything like that in this episode.

When Taiga wanted to smell nice for father, I immediately thought: Oh god, not another Asuna (Negima!) as she likes older people. But then again it would be incest. Doubt anyone would root for this. When Taiga blackmailed Ami, I totally laughed at the way she did it. It was so blatant and reminded me of when Haruhi made those computer nerds touch Mikuru's bewbs just so that she could get some nice computers.

When I first saw this episode, I didn't think about how Taiga's father acted. I thought the same way Takasu did - with ignorance. What I should have noticed was that her father was a shell of an adult with a spoiled brat inside. He deserves to be kicked in the balls by everyone in the series, in fact. I'm calling her father a dumbass because Taiga KICKED him in the BALLS. Seriously, you're going to hug someone who did that crap to you? Unless he has a damn good pedophilic reason, I'm calling him a dumbass.

How did they spell "Splendid" incorrectly? No seriously, how can you spell "splendid" with an e? Did they make an error and then go "Oh well, people won't mind!" or what?

End of 2008 - Languid Year

Mai Otome S.ifr 4/10

I loved Mai Hime and Mai Otome - it was full of fanservice and a triangle love and even had some sort of fighting in it. I loved to watch it and when I saw that S.ifr was out, I was happy and got it. When I watched it... I was disappointed. I didn't feel any 'KICK ASS' feeling. For one thing, the characters are getting OLD! I've seen them way too many times and the way they make their appearance is just way too corny for me. The main character looks like Nao, but she acts nothing like her. She's like... another Arika but a bit smarter. That wasn't what broke the camel's back. What broke the camel's back was when they readded the bloody old plot of the main girl being a princess and an old guy who is a prince. Blatantly put, I sensed another "Old guy liking a loli" kind of shit. And that is not what I'm into :[ Mai Otome already showed that theme to me already, so I wouldn't want to rewatch it again with different-yet-not-so-different characters.

With all that said, I'm still going to watch the last episode (3) when I have time. I'm just prolonging it right now since I'm not in the mood to actually go and watch this after seeing the first two episodes. I'll probably do it when I'm totally bored and are out of other Anime to watch...

Weekly Digest - 12/28/08

I use to buy Negima! Manga every time it came out. I would buy it because it was about a kid who could use Magic and all these girls who would smother him for no apparent reason. Well, I can't say that that was my only reason. Another I can remember of was that I was into Manga like Love Hina and stuff. You can say that because the characters were oh-so similar that I felt the urge to have something alike it... something more concurrent. Well, I bought one and then I started to feel that I should buy another one. By then I had about three volumes and I had never heard of OneManga or any of those sites yet. I would reread each volume over and over again just because I was bored and had nothing better to do. When I went up to around 17, I stopped. I stopped not because I couldn't afford Negima anymore but because I felt that I needed to save money for College in the future. And that's a little part of my life right there P:

Toradora - 10

After seeing this episode, I really couldn't think of Minori the same as I did before. I thought she was some sort of airhead who was really afraid of extraterrestrial happenings. She surprised me further by showing me that she understands a situation more than others may think and is also a great actor.
