Also, if you want to hate anyone that belongs in any of these groups, that doesn’t really bother me; but I feel trying to ‘convert’ people like a religious asshole is stupid.

I suppose this is just speculation, but I’d say that rape and other violent, sexual crimes are more prominent in places where there is less education, not where there is more porn. After all, if these strange fetishes are an otaku phenomenon, you’d think that Japan would have a higher crime rate. You could argue that there does seem to be a lot of news of Japanese perverts, but I think the high population density there makes for more reported incidents than say, the US. Like I said, people already mentally imbalanced might be attracted to porn or violent video games, but not all those attracted to porn or violent video games are mentally imbalanced, so I think it’s unfair to focus on that correlation. It’s why I also think a lot of new censorship laws are getting out of hand.

As far as people making comments about their fetishes online, most people would probably take it in a joking manner since the aforementioned fetishes aren’t exactly widely accepted. I don’t expect that everyone would (or should) simply respond with a “lol,” but I don’t see a need to rail against the subjects either. If it comes down to it, yes, I do think it’d be preferrable if fetishists took discussions somewhere outside of a public forum, but hey, if it bothers you, you don’t need to read it, etc.

I guess I can understand your concern with questionable fetishes getting too popular, especially if you’re worried about them spilling over into reality. I’m sorry if I just took your post too seriously — I guess I just feel pretty strongly about the “to each his own” philosophy and don’t think that there’s a need to try and herd people away from whatever happens to interest them as long as they aren’t hurting anyone. :>

@Kiri: Porn can’t be blamed for rape? Where else will they learn about it to please themselves? There’s the right hand rule but that can’t be too satisfying to a man, now, can it? Violent video games doesn’t start school shootings be adds a “click” to it, if you know what I mean. And furry porn, well, I already said my say for it.

So is it OK for people to look at all that fetish and say online, “I’d screw that cat”? I sure as hell won’t go “LOL” on that. Plus, media isn’t always steering towards physical action – it even goes towards mental. In all truth, most people withhold those thoughts and instead just blurt it all out online. And when they meet someone who they think have similar interests as them, they say so much crap that it makes you can’t help but feel sick of it.

Now let me state this straight and seriously: I don’t care if you have a weird fetish like furry or crap like that. I don’t care about that guy who thought having sex with a tranny was gay experience. I don’t even care about that guy who had child pornography. I just feel that these type of fetishes are becoming overly popular with people and wanted to make fun of it a bit.

What do I want done about these fetishes? Nothing.
Did I have intentions of converting people out of these fetishes? Yes.
Did I intend to offend any group, person, et. al? No.
What was my goal in this post? To be satirically informational and to have people laugh at the end of it.

Thoughts are harmless as long as they remain thoughts. I don’t really feel like media influence can be blamed for extreme actions — ie, porn can’t be blamed for rape, violent video games can’t be blamed for school shootings, and furry porn can’t be blamed for zoophilia. The people prone to commit those acts would regardless of the virtual media they have access to, but everyone that has access to the media can’t be judged capable of commiting those acts. I’m confident that there are tons and tons of people who enjoy watching/reading about weird fetishes but have absolutely no desire to ever act on them.
