07 Ghost : 01 : My shonen-ai senses are tingling

THE EVIDENCE:

Holy not so subtle gay Batman!

So the first episode of 07 Ghost starts out with nary a seven nor any ghosts….but still, there was mystery in the air. Enjoy this brief re-enactment of the first episode.

Opening has some really nice music and drama shots.

Opening features many uniformed men with firm pectorals, glistening eyes, tousled locks and an air of something….queer.

Main character has a dream about none other than his forgotten past. Perhaps not sooo forgotten aye?

Main character has dad complex. Probably the root of why the other men in the show seem to want to molest him.

All male school. A likely story for the female deficit in this show.

Characters seem to use a fighting style similar to Le Chevalier D’Eon and Yami No Matsuei.

For all intents and purposes, I shall refer to them as Ribbon Dancer Attacks

Arrogant Tool Character (i.e. Draco Malfoy) has a trick played on him during school.

This will be in the director’s cut.

Hilarity ensues, but not for our stoic main character. All he can do is sigh at the apathy of it all. Gay porn isn’t going to get him any closer to remembering his tragic past….or will it?

They city that they live in was apparently a dumping ground for generic 80’s crystalline towers.

Instructors look on as they send innocent young men to die so that they can see what they are made of….and keep their tuition money.

This is accomplished with a futuristic highly advanced….troll in a leotard.

Main character reinstates his masculinity by making troll a ribbon dance necklace.

Ayanami finishes off the troll and chastises Teito with his all mighty Blank sex offender stare.

Mikage decides to celebrate the paramount of their achievement by having a midnight cuddle.

Teito Remembers shit.

Teito tries to kill Ayanami, but instead is pwned by gentle natured glasses man.

THOUGHTS :

I actually really enjoyed this first episode. My expectations (which were pretty Candidate for Goddess Low) were far surpassed. The animation quality was strong throughout. The music was not stellar, but had a great energy about it and helped spice up the episode. The character designs are quite nice. The backgrounds were well done also. All in all, I actually want to see what happens next and as someone who hasn’t read the manga I am wondering just how gay this show is going to get. I plan on hanging on for the ride.

1. Teito was a slave…..hahahaha oh no they did’nt

2. Ayanami practically has a stamp on his forehead that says Seme.

3. There were enough skeletons, scythes and uniforms to please CLAMP.

4. Teito was on top of the sheets and Mikage was below. Still in the friend zone.

5. Lots of straight men enjoy Ribbon Dancing.

6. Did the troll steal that outfit from Billy Blanks?

7. Smiling glasses character has my vote as coolest.

Because of the many cute guys in the series? Really nice screen caps though.. One of the characters remind me of a character in Absolute Obedience. ^_^

@animemiz: Haha, oh Absolute Obedience. You’re right though. I would watch this show solely on the fact that Ayanami is power hungry fox.

Teito seems very gar. Gar ‘ain’t my thing :[

You know, whenever I see big guys that look like: http://aizen.usakochan.net/images/07%20Ghost/01/01_14_th.png, I can’t help but thing back to Berserk (Or really, the abridged Berserk)… where it showed that Gatz was butt raped by his “owner”. Just an FYI about one of the many things which scarred Aizen’s mind.

If it weren’t for the gar and the big scary ugly guys which remind me of buttsecks, I would watch it and probably use one of the guy’s faces as my own GRavatar.

LOL!!!  The Yaoigyrl in me was smiling up a storm while watching the first episode!

The YuriGirl in me was screaming WTHell!
And look at where he is sitting!

I hope it does have more shonen-ai in it like monochrome factor did but more serious and that someone ends up with someone instead of just hints.

@Aizen: Berserk and I have a love hate relationship. It was one of the first shows that I watched back in the mid nineties and I sort of sped through it. Mostly enjoying the darkness of the show and the outtakes. Apparently I blocked out the part where Guts drops the soap for his master….which isn’t like me. I must have been young and unperverted back then.

@Crazyanimegyrl: Oh me too. Cough, then I digested her……ok ok so I enjoy a series that’s decent but still makes me face palm from overt gayness. We’ll have to keep gabbing about this show!

@Raven: You are a goddess! How could I not have noticed that!?!? 5 Million points to Raven for noticing the ultimate subversive gay sign in the opening.

@mrb: I never saw monochrome factor, but I get what you mean about hints. Is it me or has anime been more saturated with hints these past few seasons? Maybe they need to meet a quota in order to balance panty and “bounce” shots.

Oooo. I find this pic to be implying something. Surely, a sharp building into his ass must have caused some alarms to go off.

    @7: God…. my mind… mindfuck… WRRYYY

I never noticed that. I have so been mindfucked.

  • purelyshin (author) said:

@Aizen: Yeah, you would think that they could include some sort of platform. The slight rainbow on the pillar doesn’t help.

You made me laugh. I’ve read the manga, so let me tell you this is just the beggining with the BL moments.

    Blank sex offender stare…lol!

  • purelyshin (author) said:

@Ritsuka: To be perfectly honest, I assumed as much. The whole show follows the yaoi canon with precision subtle gay accuracy. All the more fun for objective summarizing through images!

“Because this show is full-packed of bishies, hints of shounen-ai can’t be helped.”

That’s what I thought before I watched the first episode of 07-Ghost but after I did, it’s just the bishies and the plot that I cared for.
But BL is BL and it’s probably what most fangirls are awaiting for in 07-Ghost other than a serving of bishies.

goodness, this was too funny :D
    MOAR.
